Soccer

Luke is playing in the Crossroads Church Soccer League for the first time this year. And JC is his coach! He had a rough first game and probably would have won the "unsportsman-like player of the year" award if one had been given out. He doesn't like to be frustrated and the other team kept scoring goals. He may have even yelled at a kid and called him a cheater. Yikes. But after we discussed being a good sportsman, he's had a better attitude and way more fun.

Luke's 1st day in the 4's class

This kid loves school! He enjoys his friends and great teachers. We're looking forward to another fun year at New Hope!

9 years and counting

Every year, JC and I celebrate our anniversary by taking turns planning a trip for each other. This year was JC's turn. We were already in Evansville, so we left the kids there for a night (thanks Mom and Dad!) and headed to Louisville. We stayed at the Galt House. The view from our room was great! We saw a movie, did a food crawl on 4th street, and finished reading Hunger Games together. It was a much needed 24 hour getaway!

A Visit with Baby Isaac

We got to spend a few days with our nephew Isaac. He is so adorable. Luke asked to hold him all weekend and Emerson was really intrigued by him. We took isaac to our favorite restaurant, Hacienda, which Jessie has always hated. And Isaac must feel the same way as his mom. I wanted to document his first trip to Hacienda, but every time we held up the salsa by him, he cried. It was so much fun to cuddle with a tiny baby again!

Found this sweet idea from Martha Stewart on what to do with broken crayons. This is a great activity! It took a while, kept Luke totally engaged, and turned out some cute new crayons for hours of coloring fun! Thanks Martha!

Fair Fun

Our trip to the State Fair this year was legendary! We went to the Fishers train station and rode the train to the fair. It was a 30 minute ride and the kids loved it! We saw the sheep, cows, and pigs, and checked out the largest pumpkin competition. Then the kids enjoyed harvesting vegetables and earning "money" to spend on milk and string cheese. And finally we ate our way back to the train. Awesome day...brought back many 4-H summer memories!
